About Viking Weave: This “chain” is made from one extremely long piece of wire which is wrapped around a tool using a repeating pattern. Once the wire is finished being wrapped, I am left with what looks like mesh tube. I then take this and pull it through a draw plate. The draw plate is a board made of hardwood that has holes decreasing in diameter. I pull the chain through each one, in order, until the chain has condensed into the length and thickness I am looking for. It’s a very time consuming process, but I love the way it looks! For example, the chain used in the Dagmar piece took approximately 5 hours to make from start to finish. Once the length is correct, I need to cap the ends and make something out of it. That is where the true fun begins. : )
